Why Clarity, Mindset and Action are the three components of your business success springboard

How to get clarity, maintaining a growth mindset and taking action to meet your business goals are key to achieving business success. That's why my framework of Success Journaling for Business Mindset and personal development as a business activity focuses on the clarity + mindset = action equation.

The story really goes back to before I started my business but, don’t worry, I’ll keep it short in the retelling!

I was in a job that I’d been doing for a long time.

One I’d studied for, and taken, as part of the ‘traditional’ route

You know the one I mean: School - university - career (then marriage, kids etc.)

And after I’d had my children, I returned to my job part time.

When I was early-mid thirties, it started to occur to me that I was feeling limited

NOT by my children in any way

But by the interplay between wanting to be around for them and what I felt I could achieve from my work as a result.

I started to wonder if there was an alternative, but I didn’t know where to begin to find one.

Does this sound familiar to you?

It was only then I realised that I really didn’t know myself in terms of what I liked, what I was good at and what would actually make me feel the way I wanted to feel.

As a writer, previous journal keeper and stationery geek, it was through writing it out that I started (without really knowing what I was doing initially)

To get to know myself better
Gain some clarity about what was important to me and
what I was going to have to do to live in accordance with that.

I knew I didn’t want to live for the weekend, or holidays or retirement and even more so I didn’t want to be one of these people just going through the motions because they don’t care about what they’re doing and moaning about their lot.

I have no problem with people identifying and articulating what they’re not happy about, it’s when they take no responsibility, place blame and do nothing to try to change their lot that gets up my nose and I was not going to let myself become like that.

Fast forward to when I started my business. I thought that was the answer, that if I worked hard to learn all the things, my life, and what I wanted from it, would fall into place.

What I didn’t realise was that because I was effectively taking myself with me from my old life to my new life, all my insecurities, liming beliefs and fears were coming with me too.

Different circumstances, yes, but the same view of the world. The same mindset. This made it very difficult for me to approach my new venture with any sort of confidence, resilience or belief, because I felt overwhelmed, out my depth and incompetent.

Again, it was journal that bore the brunt of all this as I started to learn about and focus on the importance of mindset.

Now I’d place mindset as the number one priority work in business.

It’s your mindset that will inform the action you take and make or break your ability to take action at all.

If you’re coming from a place of self doubt, fear of messing up, fear of being visible or worrying about people thinking you’re an eejit, you’re going to approach everything you need to do (the action you need to take) in a very different way than if you:

Trust yourself to make decisions and have the resourcefulness to make changes where necessary

Trust yourself to be able to find solutions

Know yourself well enough to foresee where you might need an extra mindset boost and

Know yourself well enough through gaining clarity on

what and who’s important to you,
what you want to achieve,
how you want to feel and
the impact you want to have on those around and and the wider world.

It’s these internal components of clarity and mindset work that support you in taking action, whatever that action might be in your business (creating and publishing content, selling creative work, launching a course, booking clients into your service etc etc etc).

So that’s why for me Clarity + Mindset = Action that sets you on the path to your own vision of personal success, fulfilment and impact.

And that’s what I’m here to help you with.
