Base your decisions on what matters to you most

Starting a business is hard and, especially when we change career midlife, it's important to us to focus on what matters most.

One of the reasons that I started my own business was that I wanted to create the rest of my life around what and who mattered to me most.

I wanted to be able to focus on my family. To be around to support my children through the important exam phase in their lives. To be around for my parents who on occasion needed some support.

I wanted to have autonomy over my own schedule so that I could have the peace of mind that goes along with being able to choose, being able to decide where you place your time and energy in a way that feels good, not in a way that makes you resentful.

That all sounds coherent and hangs together now, but rewind some years and all I knew was that I felt frustrated with the way my life was unfolding.

I felt trapped by my circumstances, without the autonomy, without the peace of mind or the ability to choose and decide. And that was not what I wanted.

When I was at work, I felt frustrated and resentful if I couldn’t be around for my family when they needed me. I missed a birthday, yes, only one. But it was the birthday of someone with whom I can now spend no more birthdays and, frankly, I don’t intend to put myself in that position again.

When my twins were small, I didn’t put any of my bandwith towards furthering my career, not because I wouldn’t have wanted to, but because they were my priority. Do I believe that limited my career? Yes, I do.

It was my choice, my privilege, and I would choose that way again, but that doesn’t mean it made for a palatable permanent situation.

Does this sound familiar?

It took me a long time to make changes and, without realising what I was doing initially, I supported myself through them by journaling. Journaling helped me get to know myself better. I gained clarity on what mattered to me, what I wanted and more importantly what I didn’t want and it led me to a positive path towards the vision of success and fulfilment that I developed.

And I’d love it to do the same for you. That’s why I’ve created Your Personal Success Story, my brand new online course that will help you

  • craft the story of who you are, I mean who YOU really are personally, unrelated to any of the roles you play or external circumstances currently shaping your life, and then live the story you’ve crafted.
  • gain clarity on what matters to you most so that you can explore and articulate what having a successful and fulfilling life means and looks like to you.
  • cultivate the mindset, self-assurance and inner dialogue that will support you as you work towards achieving your personal vision of success.

If that sounds good, then I created my brand new online course Your Personal Success Story for YOU
